About the Opportunity
Adaptable Recruitment is supporting a well-established business in North Liverpool to appoint an experienced Accounts Payable Manager.
This opening presents an excellent chance for a skilled professional to join initially on an interim basis, with the expectation of long-term integration into the team. The successful candidate will take ownership of the Accounts Payable function, managing both people and processes, while actively contributing to improvement initiatives.
Role Overview
You'll be responsible for leading the day-to-day operation of the AP and P2P function, ensuring smooth processing and effective controls across all procurement and payment activities. This is a hands-on leadership role, suited to someone who thrives on streamlining processes and coaching teams to high performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team handling supplier payments, queries, and customer refunds
- Ensure accuracy across the P2P lifecycle - from purchase orders to payment runs
- Oversee invoice processing, approval workflows, and account reconciliations
- Maintain compliance and robust internal controls throughout all AP processes
- Actively participate in payment runs and data entry during peak periods
- Monitor KPIs and report on team performance, risks, and efficiency opportunities
- Coach and develop AP staff through regular feedback and 1:1s
- Liaise with other departments to resolve queries and improve communication
- Support ongoing automation and system enhancement initiatives
- Contribute to broader finance tasks, including audits and month-end reporting
Your Background
- Experienced AP or P2P leader with strong people management skills
- Proven track record of driving improvements in finance operations including implementations
- Detail-oriented with a practical, problem-solving mindset
- Confident communicator who can build trust and drive engagement across teams
- Skilled in Excel and experienced with finance systems
- Adaptable and ready to embed quickly into a fast-moving environment
