An established industrial manufacturing business is seeking a highly sales-driven Commercial Manager to join its Chesterfield site. This is a key leadership role for a motivated individual who can drive revenue growth, manage key accounts, and lead a small sales team to deliver strong commercial performance.

The Role

Working closely with the General Manager, you will take ownership of the site's commercial strategy, focusing on business development, account growth, and profitability. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who thrives in a target-driven environment and is confident leading from the front.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Drive new business opportunities and expand existing customer relationships
  • Manage and grow key accounts to increase revenue and profitability
  • Identify market opportunities and develop strategies to capitalise on growth
  • Lead contract negotiations and pricing structures

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead, develop, and motivate a small sales team to achieve targets
  • Set, monitor, and improve sales KPIs and performance metrics
  • Work with senior leadership to shape and implement commercial strategy
  • Ensure strong collaboration across operational and commercial functions

Performance & Commercial Management

  • Monitor sales performance, margins, and account profitability
  • Analyse weekly and monthly data to drive improvements
  • Prepare sales forecasts and performance reports
  • Ensure excellent customer service and long-term client retention

About You

  • Proven experience in a sales-led or commercial management role
  • Highly sales-driven with a strong focus on results and revenue growth
  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or a technical/hazardous environment is essential
  • Strong background in key account management and business development
  • Experience leading and developing a sales team
  • Commercially astute with strong analytical and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

Desirable:

  • Experience within civil engineering, construction, or a related sector
