This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced investment operations professional to step into a senior role within a fast-paced dealing environment, offering strong exposure across the full trade lifecycle and the chance to play a key role within a growing team.

Salary: £30,000 - £38,000 Depending on Experience
Holidays: 25 days + Bank Holidays
Location: Liverpool - Hybrid Working (4 days office-based)
Working: Full Time | Permanent

The Role:


As a Senior Investment Technician, you'll take ownership of investment dealing processes from instruction through to settlement and reconciliation. Acting as a senior point of contact within the team, you will also support complex queries, provide guidance, and help drive operational excellence.

Main Responsibilities to Include:

  • Process and validate investment transactions including purchases, sales, switches, and re-registrations
  • Place and manage trade approvals with platforms, discretionary fund managers (DFMs), and investment providers
  • Monitor contract notes and settlement timelines to ensure timely completion
  • Accurately post trades, charges, and income into internal systems
  • Investigate and resolve failed or delayed settlements

Technical Oversight & Risk

  • Act as an escalation point for complex or high-risk trade queries
  • Ensure all activity complies with scheme rules and internal risk controls
  • Maintain strong audit trails across all dealing activity
  • Support internal and external audit requirements

Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with advisers, custodians, platforms, and internal teams
  • Provide regular updates on trade progress and settlement status
  • Support the resolution of investment-related queries and service issues

Team & Process Development

  • Support quality assurance and checking processes within the team
  • Mentor and coach junior team members
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives
  • Assist with system enhancements and workflow optimisation

About You:

Essential Experience

  • Strong understanding of the full trade lifecycle (instruction, execution, settlement, reconciliation)
  • Experience working with funds, ETFs, listed securities, and investment platforms
  • Proven ability to manage high volumes of work within SLA-driven environments
  • High attention to detail with a strong risk and control mindset
  • At least 3 years' experience within investment operations or a related role
  • Exposure to non-standard investments and handling complex transactions
  • Experience working with DFMs

Desirable

  • Knowledge of FCA regulations and Consumer Duty principles
  • Experience using dealing systems or wrap platforms
  • Progress towards or completion of an investment qualification (e.g., CII R02, CISI)
  • Experience with unlisted assets, fund suspensions, or investment lifecycle events such as liquidations
